Not getting what you want?

 Not getting what you want?

Not sure how you got where you are?
Not sure how to change it?

You've all experienced it. Confusion. Perhaps you find yourself with multiple choices and don't know which one is the best choice. You aren't sure why this or that is happening to you (or not happening to you) or what to do about it or what not to do. How did you get where you are in life, when you thought you were working toward a different goal?

"Didn't I order ice cream?"

Confusion is the effect of not knowing what you truly want, not the cause. You say "I was so confused I didn't know what to do and I made the wrong choice." No, you were confused about what you wanted in the first place, so the choices you were presented with were confusing, offering more of the same - confusion. This is the effect, or result, of your confusion about what you want to begin with.

You sit down at an exotic restaurant that, although it offers no menu, can serve up anything you want. What would happen if you said, " I'll have a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich with an order of fries and a coke." You expect, and believe, the waiter to carry out your order and deliver it in a timely fashion. You relax and enjoy trusting the staff to do their job. And in most cases, that is what happens.

Did you need to concern yourself with the internal workings of the kitchen in order to get your order the way you wanted it? No. You expect the staff to know how to create what you ordered and, for the most part, you get what you order.

Now suppose we called the waiter back to say, "Please, make sure the cook remembers the tomato". Before the waiter could get back to the kitchen, you called him/her back to say, "and make sure the bacon is well-done". As they turn away to carry out your orders you call out again, adding, "I'd also like some apple pie with vanilla ice cream on top. Oh, and a glass of water without ice. And please hurry, I'm short on time!" The more you do this, the most confused your staff becomes. Now, what are the chances your order is going to arrive the way you want it?

Imagine you are working a printing press. The press is running just like it's supposed to and the prints are coming fast. You suddenly realize the copy is jumbled and the photos don't match the articles, what do you do? You "stop the presses!" You invest time to get clear about what it is you want to print before you start again. If you think life is too busy to take the time to "stop the presses" and get clear about what you want, you've been lured into a vortex of confusion that continues to enslave you.

So it is in life. The Source-From-Which-Everything-Originates wants you to experience life as a joyful, bountiful experience. It knows the best, most expedient way to carry out your orders. You have is what your Universe thinks you wanted. If you do not have what you think you ordered, it's because you were not clear about your order.Any time you invest in getting clear about what you want is time well invested. Do you want to enjoy the restaurant or be a slave in the kitchen?

Enjoy the time you spend getting clear about what you want. The clearer you are about your order, the better the staff can serve you and the less time you will spend in the kitchen.

Also, it's always a good idea to add, "This, or something better". After all, that's what they like to do, serve you the best.

By the way, did you want chocolate or vanilla?
